Students often shy away from pursuing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or computer science (CS) careers due to concerns about their academic performance and scores on standardized science and math tests. The National Science Foundation points out that the nation is not observing consistent improvements in student achievement in these subjects at the K-12 level.
